Day 1 April 21 2021
The nest has been prepared mainly by mama finch and is ready for use. It was a chilly day as I opened the front door and watched mama bird fly from the nest. Not sure what to expect inside the nest, I find it empty. This project started with a simple smartphone camera taking a quick snapshot of the nest but moved to HD video in a short amount of time!
Day 2 April 22 2021
I could not believe my timing for starting this project. I had mulled it over in my head for several days until I decided to take that first picture. I am glad I got started when I did because the second day yielded the first finch egg!
Day 3 April 23 2021
Day 3 and we have our second egg! How exciting. At this point, we still didn't know what species of bird we had hanging out at our home nor did we know how many eggs to expect.
To give you perspective of the bird nest, it is located on our front porch at the top of the center porch pillar. Decorative LED lights help light up the camera at night.
Day 4 April 24 2021
Mama is keeping busy while Papa sits guard everyday in the same spot (as reported by our North side neighbor). Unfortunately, Papa is not picture cooperative. One egg per day would make us think robins but they are not robins.

Day 5 April 25 2021
I watched mama bird take flight from her nest as she heard the sound of the door lock turning. I’m not sure where papa bird is but I climb the step ladder to get today’s picture. Mama seems to have been busy again.
We listened to our followers and went full steam with HD Video. I have installed my GoPro camera on a makeshift camera mount so we can enjoy and entertain others with our feathery friends!
It wasn't until we had video of Mama that we could identify her and Papa as Finches!
Day 6 April 26 2021
Papa birds main job right now is ensuring Mama bird is fed so that she can remain sitting on their eggs.
The egg count remains at 4. In the video from this morning, you can hear me unlock the door and see how alert she becomes...then I walk outside......
Day 6 in the evening I tune into the Bird Cam and Mama bird is gone but....
